wherever I am …
the world -
no more, no less.
Live a Haiku Life
Welcome!
My name is Kenneth Pearson, and I’m genuinely glad you’ve found your way here.
My work sits at the intersection of language and behavior, shaped by an MFA in Creative Writing and a Master of Science in Industrial Organizational Psychology.
That blend may sound technical on paper, yet in practice it feels quite human.
It is a way of understanding how people think, how they lead, and how they move through their days, often without ever pausing long enough to notice them.
Haiku entered my life quietly.
It began during early morning walks with my dog, Kiera, when the world still felt undisturbed and unclaimed.
At first, I was focused on form, counting syllables, studying rhythm, preparing for a local contest.
Then something shifted.
The structure gave way to awareness.
The lines became less about writing and more about noticing.
A flicker of light through a tree.
The stillness before a breeze.
The feeling of being present without needing to explain it.
That is when haiku became something more than poetry.
It became a way of living.
I came to see that presence does not require a pen or a page.
It asks for attention.
It asks for a willingness to stand inside a moment as it is, without rushing to shape it into something else.
Through that lens, haiku revealed a quiet philosophy:
Simplicity carries depth.
Stillness holds clarity.
Transience gives meaning to everything we experience.
My background with The Haiku Foundation, my time facilitating haiku walks at Yume Japanese Gardens, and my work as an author have all reinforced this understanding.
At the same time, my career in organizational development continues to show me how rarely people are given space to pause, reflect, and reconnect with what matters. That gap is where my work now lives.
Through The Presence Practice, I bring these worlds together.
Whether in one-on-one sessions, shared experiences, or leadership work, the intention remains the same.
Create space.
Invite reflection.
Allow clarity to surface in its own time.
There is a quiet belief underneath all of it that people already hold what they need. What they often lack is the space to see it.
This is the philosophy behind Live a Haiku Life.
It is less about becoming someone new and more about returning to what has always been there.
A way of moving through life with attention, curiosity, and a deeper sense of connection to each moment as it unfolds.
If you find yourself here, there is a reason.
I’m glad you arrived.
